FIRSTHAND EXPERIENCE: The 8 Most Instagrammable Rooms at The Dessert Museum!

If you think museums are scholarly and boring, there’s one museum that will change your mind. Found in the S  Maison Mall, the sweet-smelling The Dessert Museum eschews stern, old facades or postmodern designs for bright, fluffy, and, most importantly, fun colours. Everywhere you look is pretty as a picture, which makes this place very “Instagrammable”. Food and drinks are definitely allowed inside!

EAT AS YOU PLAY

The museum offers a two-hour tour of sugar-filled happiness, which starts every 15 minutes. Upon entrance, the courteous staff will give you an NFC powered wristband that will serve as your stub to try out the tons of sweet treats in different rooms, as well as a lovely meringue lollipop!

DONUT ROOM

The tour starts in the delectable Donut Room. This pink and yellow space is full of sprinkled strawberry-glazed doughnuts hanging on the ceiling. Everywhere your camera looks will make your tummy rumble because its walls are full of glossy doughnuts plus quotes and trivia!

MARSHMALLOW ROOM

As you move to the next room, the aroma of vanilla greets you, and you soon discover why. This fluffy and sky-like room is filled with hanging, strings of white marshmallows! This might be what heaven looks like! Don’t forget to make your way to a life-sized liquorice rainbow with pots of edible marshmallows (yes, you can eat those!) which you can dip in caramel, strawberry, and chocolate fondue. There’s free bottled water too; don’t forget to drink!

CANDY CANE ROOM

The next place on the tour presents a choice: Naughty or Nice, which door will you enter? Candy Cane room is divided into two colours: pastel blue and pastel pink. To make it harder, you need to pick between blueberry and strawberry macarons as your treat! Inside will tickle your child and your inner child because of the presence of a see-saw and swings inside. Bring your family to enjoy the rides or make a friend on the tour.

ICE CREAM ROOM

Heading to the next stop gives you the chills. This cold room contains a legion of balloons attached on life-sized wafer cones! Welcome to the Ice Cream Room! The walls are filled with ice cream-related trivia including how it was invented. Don’t forget to get an ice cream or ice pop along the way and you can enjoy common and rare flavours such as cookies and cream, mango, and avocado.

BUBBLE GUM ROOM

Balls and bubbles greet you everywhere in the following room because it’s the Bubble Gum Room! A giant bubble gum-dispensing machine invites you to climb inside with your friends and play with floating and rotating bubble gum-like balloons for three to five minutes.

GUMMY BEAR ROOM

What’s next? Gummy bears! In this room, you can plunge into three cute bath tubs of gummy balls and bears! You’ll also get a chance to touch and cuddle three giant air-inflated gummy bears surrounded by balloons and floating bear-shaped bubbles.

COTTON CANDY FOREST

If you love pink, you will adore the following room: the Cotton Candy Forest. It sports a giant cotton candy machine. The whole colourful space looks like it’s made of pure cotton candy; don’t be deceived, try not to eat the displays! Get one real cotton candy that you can make to your taste; for example, you can request more powdered milk for a milkier texture.

CAKE ROOM

Last but certainly not the least part of the tour is the Cake Room. It features giant cake pops the size of a wrecking ball. Don’t forget to tap your wristband to get a real cake pop! Choose from a smorgasbord of colours and flavours. After a long journey of sweets and selfies, you can try to use the calories by playing basketball with the cute and squishy balls inside.

The sinful indulgence doesn’t stop just yet. Upon exit, the staff will hand you a transparent balloon with confetti and chocolate inside that you can pop on the spot or bring home!

The Dessert Museum will officially open on February 10, 2018. Book a visit ASAP!
